Ski area
The ski area of Åre is the largest contiguous ski area north of the Alps and with around 100 km of slopes offers enough variety for experienced skiers and beginners. Åre is snow-sure between mid-December and mid-May. The slopes are illuminated during dark days, and later in the season the lifts are open longer because it stays light longer. You can also ski in the evenings. Some specifics about the ski area:
- The Åre Mountain Lodge is located in Åre Björnen, a somewhat more child-oriented area in the ski area. This part is decorated with the winter wonderland dreams of children in combination with the wishes of their parents.
- Bräcke Parken is the place-to-be for those who love jumps, half pipes, rails and freeriding. A cross-country ski track has also been built where competitions can be held.
- The ski area of Åre has a huge off-piste area, where you can ski fantastic among trees, jump off cliffs, float through the powder, etc. In particular ‘Baksidan’ (the back of Mount Åreskutan) is a beautiful and well-known off-piste area . If you want to ski off piste, we strongly recommend taking a guide.
New Piste in Åre Sadeln
A new slope is opened in the Sadeln part of the Åre ski area before the start of the new ski season. This blue slope will not only appeal to beginners, but also to advanced winter sports enthusiasts who enjoy carving. A nice addition to Sadeln where you could already find a wonderful selection of red and blue slopes. Moreover, this new slope also unlocks the apartments built in Sadelnbyn. Snow cannons are also installed to open the slopes directly.
